Indiana RadioWatch: April 10, 2018
Good Afternoon from the NAB Show in Las Vegas. Here's a quick update on what's going on back home:
E.W. Scripps' ABC affiliate/WRTV-TV (Channel 6, Indianapolis) adds Justin Welnack as their new Creative Services Director. Mr. Welnack joins from WAPT-TV in Jackson, Mississippi. His broadcast career includes stops in Washington, DC (Senior Producer at WUSA-TV) and Chicago, Illinois (Creative Services Producer at WLS-TV). Before all of that, Mr. Welnack worked as a Creative Services Producer at WXIN-TV (Channel 59).
Where Are They Now? Former then-WRWM (“93.9 The Beat”) morning host JC earns a promotion from fill-ins to nights at KILT-FM in Houston, Texas.
Tonight, “Boomer TV” returns to WFYI-TV (Channel 20, Indianapolis) at 7:30pm. For nearly three years, the locally produced show aired on WISH-TV (Channel 8, Indianapolis). The show includes broadcasting veterans Paul Poteet, Julie Patterson, Jill Ditmire and Ed Wenck.
Marty Hensley’s New Beginnings Movement files with the FCC to change the City of License for their Religious/WJCF-FM (88.1fm, Morristown) to Greenfield.
DLC Media launches an additional FM translator for their Standards/WAMB (1130am, Brazil): Meet 250 watt W295CQ (106.9fm, Brazil). DLC Media owner Dave Crooks tells IRW that a new station logo will be unveiled soon.
Marty Hensley’s New Beginnings Movement sells W249DG (97.7fm, North Vernon) to Tom and Diane Taylor for $35,000. In May 2016, the translator began a simulcast with Classic Hits/WJCP (1460am, North Vernon).
B.L.S. Entertainment's Urban AC/WEOA (1400am, Evansville) and translator W253BF (98.5fm, Evansville) flip formats to Hip Hop/R&B, under GM Darin Lander.
That's all for this issue. Thank you for your continued support.
