A fire at the transmitter site causes Times Communications' Regional Mexican/WHLY (1580am, South Bend) to go silent and file an STA with the FCC. Just over the border, BBN, Inc. closes on their $5.099 million purchase of WCPQ-FM (99.9fm, Park Forest, Illinois). The former Polish language format ("Polski Radio") heard on 99.9fm moves to Birach Broadcasting's WMFN (640am, Peotone, Illinois), which is the former allocation licensed to Terre Haute.
