Monday, DLC Media had an open house to mark the return home of their Oldies/WAXI (104.9fm, Rockville). Under prior ownership, WAXI broadcast from Terre Haute. If you couldn't attend, here's a 'sneak peak' inside the renovated building here, here, and here. DLC Media owner Dave Crooks says, "We are proud to be Parke and Vermillion counties local radio station."

Southwest

Sad news from Owensboro, as Edith Bennett passed away. In 1950, Ms. Bennett earned her first job at WOMI (1490am) and worked her way up; secretary, business manager, office manager, commercial writer, Sunday morning announcer. It was that Sunday morning shift (where she hosted "Radio Church Chapel" and "Down Memory Lane") where Ms. Bennett bonded with her loyal audience. Ms. Bennett passed away on Friday at age 81. WOMI remembered Ms. Bennett on Sunday by airing encores of both shows and a biography of her life and radio career. A memorial service will be April 27 at 4:00PM at Third Baptist Church, 527 Allen St., Owensboro. You may add condolences via http://www.smithfuneralhome1886.com/

Henson Media redesigns its websites for Sports/WMSK(AM) (1550am, Morganfield, Kentucky), Country/WMSK-FM (101.3fm, Sturgis, Kentucky), and the AM/FM combo Standards/WSON(AM) (860am) and translator W243CU (96.5fm, both Henderson, Kentucky).
