IRW extends our sincerest apologies to Mark Allen. With all the Monday changes, we overlooked that he is the new OM for the Adams Radio Group radio stations in Fort Wayne. Mr. Allen last programmed KIAI (Mason City, Iowa). Mr. Allen now programs Country/WBTU (93.3fm, Kendallville).
What else is new at the Adams Radio Group? Glad you asked:
Rhythmic CHR/WNHT (96.3fm, Churubusco) began a stunt format over the weekend. Here's a sample.
Tonight, Classic Rock/WXKE (103.9fm, Fort Wayne) will move to 96.3fm. Peter Ambrose at Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly says that JJ Fabini replaced Doc West as WXKE PD. Here's a sneak peek at the new logo.
Mr. Ambrose also reports that 103.9fm will soon upgrade to iBiquity's HD Radio. Now, Adams Radio Group has two FM translators: W245CA (96.9fm, Fort Wayne) and W277AK (103.3fm, Fort Wayne). Those translators could simulcast Adams' two AM properties: WGL (1250am, Fort Wayne) and WLYV (1450am, Fort Wayne), or 103.9fm HD subchannel(s).
103.9fm will take new call letters: WWFW, but won't launch a new format until later this month.
Country/WBTU (93.3fm, Kendallville) midday host Travis Walker exits along with Rhythmic CHR/WJFX (107.9fm, New Haven) night slammer Caden. Also, former Oasis Radio Group online guru Wes Teska exits.
Former "Wild 96.3" middayer Miss Janay replaces Caden in nights.
Jim Brady (Felton) passed away last Thursday. Mr. Felton programmed WLYV (1450am, Fort Wayne) and did mornings ("Uncle Felty") in the late 1960s. After Fort Wayne, he went to the famous CKLW in Windsor, Ontario. Mr. Felton was 67.
