The FCC has released the list of LPFM applications for Indiana. You'll find the entire list at the end of this issue. Now onto the news of late...

Northeast

CHR/WMEE (97.3fm, Fort Wayne) makes some changes: morning co-host Lana Conroy exits. Also, The Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 moves to Sunday mornings (6am - 10am) while Casey Kasem's American Top 40 moves to Sunday mornings (10am - 1pm).

Last issue, we reported the arrival of "Captain" Chris Didier at Oldies/WLDE (101.7fm, Fort Wayne). IRW has learned he'll be APD there under OM/PD Lee Tobin. With his arrival, there's a new lineup:

5:30am - 9am - Jim Reed & Carrie Wellman
9am - 10am - Jim Reed
10am - Noon - Carrie Wellman
Noon - 6pm - "Captain" Chris
6pm - Midnight - Dr. Dave

This lineup is the result of two departures: Afternoon guy Zack Skylar exits, as well as night lady Miranda Rae. Dr. Dave comes over from morning show producer duties of "Majic in the Morning" at sister AC/WAJI (95.1fm, Fort Wayne).

Public radio station WBNI gains FCC approval for a second station, along with a translator. Here's how it all falls out:

The new station, preliminarily known as WBOI (91.3fm, Orland), will have a translator in Fort Wayne, W204BF (88.7fm, Fort Wayne). Both frequencies should be on the air within 18 months, according to an article in The Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette. Formats of both stations, along with any changes to WBNI's format, will be announced at a later date.

Jim Zix, GM and Chief Engineer at Religious/WLAB (90.3fm, Fort Wayne) exits for the engineering department at Cumulus Media. Melissa Montana is now the Interim GM at "The Source."

At Urban/WJFX (107.9fm, New Haven), PD Weasel hands out some titles: Night guy Randy Alomar is now APD. Afternoon man Julian Allison is now Music Coordinator, while midday lady Jordan Kline is now Events Coordinator.

Former then-CHR/WDJB (106.3fm, Columbia City) night (and morning) guy Phlash Phelps returns to Fort Wayne as morning man at Rhythmic/WCKZ (102.3fm, Auburn). He's not on the air yet, but we anticipate him starting soon. Also at "Z-102", "Freight Train" Shane exits.

Rock/WBYR (98.9fm, Van Wert, Ohio) has some additions: B.K. is now doing nights. B.K. arrives from Memphis, Tennessee, where he did afternoons at PD Jim Fox's former station: WMFS. Also, Jodi Hamilton is the new promotions director. Hamilton will also do promotions for sister Classic Rock/WFWI (92.3fm, Fort Wayne)

At Country/WBTU (93.3fm, Kendallville), local sales manager Bob Swinehart exits, along with several salespeople.

The application by Great Lakes Community Broadcasting for a station on 88.7fm in Kinderhook Township, Michigan (just over the IN/MI border, near Interstate 69) is returned by the FCC.

Northwest

Robert Feder's column in The Chicago Sun-Times alerted us to WNDZ (750am, Portage) adding "Diamond Gems", a local weekly baseball show hosted by George Castle.

Central

Radio One has closed on its $40 million deal with Shirk, Inc. and IBL, L.L.C. for Rhythmic/WHHH (96.3fm, Indianapolis), Rhythmic Oldies/WBKS (106.7fm, Greenwood) and Jazz/WYJZ (100.9fm, Lebanon). Bill Shirk, president of Shirk, Inc. will stay on as head of Radio One's Indianapolis Operations.

Former Country/WKKG (101.5fm, Columbus) night guy Joe Thunder is now doing weekends at Country/WGRL (93.9fm, Noblesville).

Rock/WFBQ (94.7fm, Indianapolis) welcomes Mike Thomas as PD. Thomas arrives from Dayton, Ohio where he was PD at WTUE and WXEG.

Bob & Tom add KKGL in Boise, Idaho and WZAZ in Columbus, Ohio to their list of affiliates.

Westcentral

In 1998, Contemporary Media owner Michael Rice was jailed, and stripped of FCC radio licenses, for sexually abusing children. The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals dismisses Rice's legal challenges to the FCC to regain his licenses. In Indiana, Contemporary Media owns WBOW (640am, Terre Haute), along with WZZQ(AM) & FM (1230am, 107.5fm; both Terre Haute). If interested, you can read the Court's decision.

Talk/WBOW's (640am, Terre Haute) tower was severely damaged during recent thunderstorms. Consequently, the tower has been dismantled and they're on the air using a backup antenna.

Family Worship Center gains FCC approval on translator stations W219CQ-CP (91.7fm, Linton), and W212BN-CP (90.3fm, Huntingburg). They will translate WJFM in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Just up the road from Huntingburg, Family Worship's application for 90.3fm in Jasper is dismissed.

Rock/WZZQ (107.5fm, Terre Haute) morning co-host Debbie Hunter exits, as well as air talent Danny Wayne. The two moves are un-related. Wayne is now at Country/WWSY (95.9fm, Seelyville).

Southeast

After having a translator application dismissed on 88.7fm in Madison, the Family Worship Center (aka Jimmy Swaggart) has their translator application on 91.1fm, also in Madison, dismissed by the FCC.

Family Worship Center does gain approval on W217BE (91.3fm, Batesville). It'll translate WJFM in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Southcentral

WYGB-CP (102.3fm, Edinburgh) is a step closer to hitting the air. The Columbus City Council approved Keith Reising's building permit to construct a new tower.

On the other hand, WTCJ-FM (105.7fm, Tell City) debuts with a CHR format, as "The Party."

Southwest

Jeannie Holiday is promoted from weekends to middays at AC/WIKY (104.1fm, Evansville).
