Point of Clarification from the Saturday IRW: The 2015 move of Rush Limbaugh from Emmis Communications' N-T/WIBC (93.1fm, Indianapolis) to iHeartMedia's Sports/WNDE (1260am, Indianapolis) marks a return to WNDE. Mr. Limbaugh's show aired on WNDE in the early 1990s.

A former Indianapolis radio and TV News Director passed away. Bob Gamble started his radio career in Albert Lea, Minnesota. The usual radio journey included stops in Nebraska, Oklahoma and then to Indianapoils in 1959. There, Mr. Gamble joined the Time-Life stations: WFBM(AM) (now WNDE), WFBM-FM (now WFBQ-FM) and WFBM-TV (now WRTV-TV) as News Director. He remained with WFBM-TV as it became WRTV-TV, and remained through the 1972 sale of WRTV-TV by Time-Life to McGraw-Hill. Mr. Gamble was 89.

A former WIFE Good Guy recently passed away. Gary Hoffman was only 60, but had worked at multiple Indianapolis radio stations, along with radio stations in Florida, Texas and Michigan. In Indianapolis, Mr. Hoffman programmed WZPL, giving it a distinctive CHR sound. Among many other accomplishments, Mr. Hoffman also consulted the Hoosier Radio/TV stations (WHHH, WYJZ and WBKS).

Emmis Communications' Hot AC/WFNB (92.7fm, Brazil) adds veteran Terre Haute DJs Jamie Dawson in mornings and Matt Luecking in afternoons. Former PD/Mornings Blake Stadel exits.

Longtime Raycom Media's NBC affiliate WFIE-TV (Channel 14, Evansville) GM Nick Ulmer and News Director Scott Galloway both exit. Mr. Ulmer joins Raycom sister KOLD-TV as their GM. Mr. Galloway joins WTOC-TV in Savannah, Georgia as their News Director. Jay Hiett replaces Mr. Ulmer at WFIE, earning the promotion from GSM to GM.

University of Southern Indiana's AAA/WSWI (820am, Evansville) won several national awards at the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) Festival of Media Arts college competition.

WICR-FM/HD Radio at the University of Indianapolis is accepting applications for a Director of Programming. This is a full-time, exempt staff position.

The Director of Programming is responsible for all content airing on and related to WICR-FM/HD 1, HD 2, and HD 3. This includes oversight of Internet and social media content for all three channels. Additionally, this position provides programming input for UIndy-TV 5, a student-run, campus closed circuit, cable TV channel. The Director of Programming provides assistance in teaching select courses and leads the effort to coach student on-air personalities.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required in communication, telecommunications, media or a related field; master's degree preferred. At least three years of commercial and/or public radio programming experience (preferably both) and at least five years of experience as an on-air personality on commercial or non-commercial radio stations (preferably both); some teaching/training experience; experience in non-commercial educational radio environment preferred. Knowledge of public and commercial radio programming methods and techniques; ability to develop, select, and schedule programs that connect channels to target audiences; basic understanding of using Nielsen Audio ratings data for program review; ability to coach and develop student air talent; significant knowledge of scheduling using radio automation systems (Audio Vault experience a plus); proficiency in using digital audio editing software (Adobe Audition experience a plus); significant knowledge of selecting music and using scheduling software (Selector experience a plus); ability to use social/interactive media to promote broadcast and related content; and ability to build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, most notably non-for-profit arts organizations, in regard to locally-produced radio programming and web content. Prefer knowledge of public radio programming and distribution services; some knowledge of jazz and classical music; and basic understanding of television program development, scheduling, and promotion.
