Indiana RadioWatch: October 4, 2016
This afternoon brings two exclusive stories.
1. Rarely do we write about a format change in advance, but we have this on very good authority: For the last 17 years, WHFB-FM (99.9fm, Benton Harbor, Michigan) aired a country format, and since 1947 (when 99.9fm signed on), it's always been WHFB-FM ("Heart of the Fruit Belt").
Next week Tuesday (10/11/16) at Noon, "New Country 99.9" will flip formats to CHR as "Live 99.9." Mornings will be handled by the syndicated "Brooke and Jubal" show, while "Shady" will take nights. "Shady" last worked both behind the microphone and served as a morning show producer at sister station WJQM in Madison, Wisconsin. The syndicated Bob and Tom show will end their WHFB-FM affiliation, and no "New Country 99.9" airstaff will lose their jobs. New call letters planned, but not yet revealed. In format competition would be Sound Management's CHR/WNDV (92.9fm, South Bend).
2. After just several months at Adams Radio Group's Country/WBTU (93.3fm, Kendallville), Brooke Taylor will soon exit as APD/Middays and join iHeart's WEBG "Big 95.5" in Chicago, Illinois for afternoon drive.
We'll be back again Thursday with a complete issue. Thank you for your continued support.
