Hot AC/WSHI (106.3fm, Columbia City) flips call letters to WDDB.

A new LPFM for the tiny Evansville suburb of Baugh City (it's not on the Rand McNally, but we'll tell you that it's northeast of I-164 off of IN-62). WYIR-LP (96.9fm) will begin programming soon, and we received this nice note from GM Randall "Skip" Spence which we'll excerpt:

"...we are licensed to a small stop in Heim Road in western Warrick County (Baugh City)...About 100 or so people live within a couple of miles of that part of the road and another twenty to thirty live around the tower... We are test streaming at http://www.wyir.com/ (The "Wire") is run by Youth Inc. of Southern Indiana (Youth Inc. for short) and the calls come from We're Youth Inc. Radio....We have a studio in downtown Evansville at 221 Main Street in the basement of the "Youth Inc." run coffee house named "WIRED"...We offer a place to hang for those high school and college age kids who seemed to be ignored and we have bands play in the dungeon of this old jewelry store building (built in 1888)...Solid old place and a dry lower level with some apartments upstairs.. Our format will be a 'Theocratic' twist on New Rock/Alternative and classic-progressive sounds... We will be locally automated and slowly go from crawl, walk and run status.. We have chosen some land to give us better elevation to the ridges and hills toward the west side and give us a better HAAT.. Opting for 58 watts at about 39.3 meters HAAT and 36.8 meters above the ground.. Our element is 120 off the ground on a 120 foot Trylon "Super Titan" tower and we have an additional ten feet of pole at the top, if we decide to add a second bay at one half wavelength, to concentrate the signal to the horizon. We are using NiCOM antenna and exciter/transmitter and will Tieline POTS the stereo feed at 15kH from our downtown studios. Searching for the right music scheduler, at this time and just have songs random-playing off the 'iTunes' on the production computer, at this time. Just under 250,000 people live within the signal...Of that we will target between 85 and 90 thousand in our two key demographics... We plan to co-promote concerts with bands that play on our underground format and that of new LPFM WCFY-Evansville, that is running the Christian Hit Radio Network format from Nashville (Way-Fm).... We plan to test a silent carrier this week, if the electricity is connected..."

That's it for this issue!
