Before we get into the latest news, we heard last week that Dale Gehman passed away. Mr. Gehman served as an ABIP (Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program) inspector for Indiana. Mr. Gehman passed away on November 22 at age 59, after fighting cancer for nearly ten years. A funeral was held last Friday in Ephrata, Pennsylvania.

Northeast

North Adams Community Schools signs on their Variety/WDBF-LP (103.5fm, Decatur) as "103.5 Brave Nation." (Founded in 1967, Bellmont High School's nickname is "Braves")

The Fort Wayne LPTV applications keep increasing. The latest filing: CrossTalk International's EICB (Excellence in Christian Broadcasting) files an application for a LPTV station on Channel 35, running 700 watts from the WFFT-TV tower along Hillegas Road.

Northwest

Mid-America Radio's W231BT (94.1fm, Martinsville) receives a CP to move to 97.5fm, change city of license to Logansport and run 250 watts on a tower that's east of Logansport, near the Wabash River. Of note, Mid-America owns Full Service/WSAL (1230am, Logansport).

Southcentral

Good Shepherd Radio's W266CH (101.1fm, Seymour) signs on as a simulcast of WKJD (90.3fm, Columbus). And, WKJD flips format to all holiday music.

Southwest

Henson Media/Morganfield, Kentucky News Director Tammy Hancock exits after just over two years.

Where Are They Now? Former WEHT-TV News Director Michael Valentine joins WUSA-TV in Washington, DC as Station Manager/Director of Content.

December 4: In 1995, WEVV-TV in Evansville switches from FOX to CBS affiliation. In 1999, 89.7fm in Greenfield signs on as WRGF, and still is. At Midnight in 2007, WKLU (101.9fm, Brownsburg) flips format from Classic Hits to Oldies ("Oldies 101.9").

December 5: In 1960, 93.1fm in Indianapolis signs on as WIBC-FM, and returned to those call letters in 2008.

December 6: In 1956, 1290am in Niles, Michigan signs on as WNIL, and still is. In 1984, then-94.3fm in Loogootee signs on as WKMD. It moved to 94.1fm in 1994 and to 94.5fm in 1998. In 2007, WLFF (95.3fm, Brookston) flips format from Country ("The Wolf") to Adult Hits as "Bob" and call letters to WBPE ("Bob Plays Everything").

December 7: In 1949, 1270am in Gary signs on as WWCA and still is. In 1959, 1380am in Brazil signs on as WITE. It later moved to 1130am. In 1970, 91.3fm in Vincennes signs on as WVUB(FM). In the late 1970s, it moved to 91.1fm.

December 8: In 1995, former WBCL (90.3fm, Fort Wayne) morning host Jeff Carlson dies in an automobile accident (Age 46). In 2007, Fort Wayne broadcaster Roxanne McVay dies (Age 45).

December 9: In 1996, WHPZ flipped formats from Beautiful Music to Contemporary Christian.

December 10: In 1956, 1590am in Beech Grove signs on as WGEE. Today, it's WNTS. In 1963, 100.1fm, Bluffton signs on as WCRD. Today, it's WFCV-FM.
