Earlier this year, FCR Broadcasting took their translator network silent. Now, FCR will sell two of those translators to Gerard Media. Ric Federighi and his two brothers comprise Gerard Media LLC. For $12,000 each, Gerard will acquire W236BD (95.1fm, Michigan City) and W273BM (102.5fm, Benton Harbor). W236BD will relay Talk/Classic Hits WIMS (1420am, Michigan City). W273BM will relay N-T/WHFB (1060am, Benton Harbor-St. Joseph, Michigan). Both FM translators might be on the air this week, since both licenses will expire in early January 2018. Beth Griffin serves as broker for FCR Broadcasting.

Radio One launches their W286CM (105.1fm, Indianapolis) translator with a Regional Mexican format, as "La Grande 105.1". While there's no in-house PD named, Daniel Melendez consulted the launch. Mr. Melendez programs WLFM-LP in Cleveland, Ohio and WOXY-FM in the Cincinnati, Ohio market. Radio One registered a website (under development) and created a Facebook page, which makes IRW think this might be a "soft launch" ahead of something more formal towards the end of the year.
Speaking of Regional Mexican, Continental Broadcast Group files a CP application for a new translator on 94.3fm, licensed to Indianapolis. As proposed, the 250 watt translator antenna would be on the tower of their Regional Mexican/WSYW (810am, Indianapolis) on the south side of Indianapolis, near the White River.
Last Friday, Bob Kevoian joined the The Bob and Tom show, guest hosting for Tom Griswold, as Mr. Griswold took the day off for his daughter's surgery at Riley Hospital for Children. Dave Lindquist at The Indianapolis Star recapped the show.
That's all for this issue. Thank you for your continued support.
