Station History

On March 25, 1960, The New Castle Courier Times newspaper was granted a CP for 1550am; 250 watts (DA-2), Unlimited. 1550am signed on November 14, 1960.

Both frequencies were purchased by Citadel Communications Corp. in November 1998 from Wicks Broadcasting Group as a part of a 16 station deal for $77 million. That sale included sister WWKI. Investment firm Forstmann Little & Co. purchased Citadel in January 2001 for $1 billion, plus debt.

The WLTI call letters debuted in March 2010. Citadel Communications Corp. merged with Cumulus Media, Inc. on September 16, 2011.
