1460am signed on in 1954. Northern Indiana Broadcasters sold WKAM in October 1998 to Van Hawke-Johnson Communications for $850,000 plus $52,000 for a
non-compete. The sale included sister WZOW. In July 2002, Van Hawke-Johnson Communications sold WKAM to Fulmer Communications.
On April 18, 2005, the station flipped formats from Soft AC to Regional Mexican under an LMA with Chicago, Illinois-based Benara Corporation. Fulmer Communications sold WKAM in April 2008 to
I.B. Communications LTD for $320,000.
