Station History
1350am signed on July 16, 1948. The owners wanted "WIO" as the first three call letters. The wife of a WIOU board member said it should be "U" because, "You've borrowed money from everyone in town, so you might as well call it
WIOU because you owe everyone in town." Formerly owned by Booth American Co. Formerly owned by Mid-America Radio Group, Inc. Former Chicago Cubs
radio affiliate. WIOU changed formats and dropped talk (becoming ESPN Sports) on July 1, 2013.
